On-Self Reliance Part 3

While we continued reading “on-self reliance” essay I took some notes and this what I understood:
“Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind”. He believes that everyone is fundamentally good, that everyone is the same but it not like that. If you want to do something it more meaningful if you have a purpose to why you are doing, don’t just do it for it to make you look good have a purpose to it. People who are not being true to themself they want to act good. I don’t just want to exist but actually live. Just be you and do things that make you happy, believe in you! People will look at you funny or give you a weird look if they don’t understand what you just said. A lot of the time we like to make people fit in but they just don’t fit in, we do it just to not make them feel less. Why are people not true to what they say? Is it that they just say it just to make them look good?

On-Self Reliance Part 2

While we continued reading “on-self reliance” essay I took some notes and this what I understood:
You don’t know what you can do until you try! A choice determines what we see. A lot of people think that if you don’t do anything to make something possible it will come to them easy but sadly it’s not like that. If you have something you want to accomplish please do so don’t question or ask yourself if you will be able to accomplish it work for it and best believe you will do it. It better to be honest then lying and making them feel a certain way. What is it that makes people afraid to be in school or anywhere around? Is it the way they are treated? The way they act?

First Impression On-Self Reliance

My first impression on the essay “On-self Reliance” by Ralph Waldo Emerson is that when Emerson said “ To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, — that is genius”, it’s basically like saying we are given permission.
